Meet Cate Docanto

Cate Docanto is a 3D animator who aspires to bring imagination to life through expressive characters and motion. As a dedicated student of animation, Cate demonstrates experience creating storyboards and working them into 3D animations using reference, blocking, in-betweens, and camera movement. Each project shows her improving skills in movement, emotion, and scene composition, and highlights her passion for creating visual stories that capture attention and inspire viewers.

My goal is to inspire and entertain through the art of animation, connecting with audiences on a profound level.

Summary

I am a passionate and skilled 3D animator with experience creating storyboards and working them into 3D animations using reference, blocking, in-betweens, and camera movement. My previous accomplishments include cooperating with creative teams to produce a 3D video game and 3D animated short film within a tight deadline.

Professional Highlights

  • Developed all aspects of a game level using Unreal Engine, including concept design, texturing, blueprint scripting, animation, and Niagara VFX systems.

  • Designed props and created final character and weapons art assets, including texture work, for the video game “Possession Protocol.”

ANIMATOR, STORYBOARD AND TEXTURE ARTIST                                 2025

Humber College, Etobicoke, ON

  • Tasked with participating in the development of a 3D animated short film called “The Shootout", creating the storyboards, concept design, texturing, and animation

  • Created early storyboards for the shots and scenes, developed rough concept sketches for the two main characters and the church, using reference from western movies, textured some props and buildings, and produced final animation for the first four scenes where the sheriff confronts the cowboy

  • Aided in producing a successful 3D animated short film, with great comedic timing and charming characters
